Better Made turns 80
DETROIT
Better Made films commercials in honor of 80th anniversaryIt has won hundreds of awards and taste tests for their savory snacks, from local competitions to national and international tastings. Now, as part of Better Made’s anniversary celebration, the company has produced television commercials. Sal Cipriano, CEO of Better Made, whose father started the now famous snack food company back in 1930, stopped in at a recent voice over recording and editing session at CVMedia’s studio in Northville.
The objective of the commercials was to highlight the company’s connection and loyalty to the state of Michigan and in particular, the Detroit area.
From the time Michigan-grown potatoes are unloaded at the plant, to being washed, cut, cooked, salted (with salt coming from Michigan mines), seasoned (with Michigan made seasonings) bagged and finally boxed (in cardboard cartons made in Michigan) by Michigan workers. A total of three commercials were produced, which took more than months to develop by CVMedia. They will be hitting local and statewide television stations in time for Better Made’s 80th year anniversary celebration.
WARREN
National Kitchen and Bath awards local scholarStacey Burnick of Warren won an Outstanding Student Award from the National Kitchen and Bath Association, which netted her a $100 scholarship. Burnick is a recent graduate of Baker College of Clinton Township with a bachelor of interior design degree. She also earned an associate’s degree in interior design and a certificate in kitchen and bath design, also from Baker.
NOVI
Supplier will move to larger facilityInternational automotive parts manufacturer Mando America will move to the Beck North Corporate Park in Novi. Mando will be moving from Plymouth in early 2011, into a 76,500 square-foot building. Amson Dembs is the developer of the park and will also be constructing the new facility.
Mando America is a supplier of vehicle chassis sub-systems for brakes, steering and suspensions products manufactured, designed and supported by the Korean-based supplier Mando Corporation. The Novi location will employ approximately 100 professional engineering jobs with room to expand within the next two years.
STERLING HEIGHTS
CEO appointed to advisory councilDonna Zobel, president and CEO of Mryon Zucker Inc., based in Sterling Heights, has been appointed to the 2010 U.S. Manufacturing Council. Zobel will join other business leaders in advising the Obama administration on matters relating to the competitiveness of the U.S. manufacturing sector and government policies and programs that affect U.S. manufacturers.
