Conference discusses expanding opportunities in the defense industry
The Michigan Chapter of the National Defense Industrial Association is hosting “Expanding Opportunities in the Defense Industry: The Upside to Michigan’s Economy,” their 4th annual Fall Business conference Sept. 13-15 at The Marriott Detroit Troy, 200 West Big Beaver Road in Troy. It will give Midwest companies an opportunity to network with government and defense industry decision makers from the Department of Defense, U.S. Army, U.S. Marine Corps, Automation Alley, the Defense Supply Center, the National Automotive Center and a wide variety of manufacturers who are currently working on a variety of defense-related projects. Attorney reappointed chairman of Salvation Army advisory board
Butzel Long attorney and shareholder, Geoffery Gallinger, has been reappointed as board chairman for the Salvation Army Detroit Metropolitan Advisory Board 2010-2011.
Gallinger is based in Butzel Long’s Bloomfield Hills office where he practices in the area of general business and corporate planning needs, labor and employment law and human resource administration training and counseling. The Detroit Metropolitan Salvation Army has more than 40 centers of service in Metro Detroit.

The Birmingham Bloomfield Art Center recently announced the addition of seven members to its board. The board announces the appointment of Genevieve Clark, operations manager, ARISE Detroit, Detroit; Lois DeBacker, senior program director, The Kresege Foundation, Troy; Patty Eisenbraun, artist, Bloomfield Village; Lynn Forbush, banker, Private Wealth Management, JPMorgan, Bloomfield Hills; Pascal Goachet, senior vice president global human resources and organization, Federal Mogul, Southfield; Michelle Goff, senior vice president and chief financial officer, R.L. Polk and Co.; and John Kokubo, senior vice president, Morgan Stanley, Birmingham.

Leon & Lulu’s recognized
Leon & Lulu’s, at 96 W. 14 Mile Road in Clawson, was honored with the Special Award for Service to the Community at the 59th Annual Retailer Excellence Awards in New York City. The award was created especially to recognize their achievement of hosting 65 in-store events in 2009, the majority of which supported local nonprofits.
