Impact Management Services, a Southfield-based staff management and workforce consulting firm, is holding on-site interviews at job fairs on Tuesday, Aug. 10, beginning at 9 a.m. at two Michigan Works’ offices, located at 15950 E. 12 Mile Rd., Suite 100 in Roseville and 35731 W. Michigan Ave. in Wayne. Program managers will be looking to fill dozens of immediate-hire positions for their automotive clients.
All applicants should come prepared for a professional interview with an updated résumé, proof of a diploma or degree, photo identification, social security card and reference list. Two new companies create jobs

SET Enterprises, Inc. a Warren-based provider of steel processing services with operations in Michigan, Indiana and Illinois, has opened of two new businesses, SET Duct Manufacturing, Inc. and SET Construction, Inc. in a former renaissance zone in Detroit.
SET Duct Manufacturing, Inc. will manufacture commercial-grade spiral, oval and rectangular duct, related fittings and components. With support from the Michigan Economic Development Corporation and Detroit Economic Growth Corporation, the company will create nearly 40 jobs represented by Local 80 of the Sheet Metal Workers Union.
SET Construction, Inc. will provide general contracting, program management and construction management services as well as masonry, interior building, finish/rough carpentry and concrete for commercial, governmental and military clients.

Verizon improves their coverage

Verizon Wireless has activated a new cell site in Warren. The site, which has a backup generator, improves voice and data coverage in Warren along 9 Mile and 10 Mile roads between Van Dyke and Ryan roads.

SOUTHFIELD
TV show saves high school

Southfield-based Statewide Disaster Restoration is donating $100,000 in manpower and services for the NBC “School Pride” restoration project at the Communication and Media Arts High School in Detroit, according to Statewide’s Project Manager Seth Helfman. The Communication and Media Arts High School was originally slated to close this summer due to lack of funds to repair the building. It’s being saved after being selected to receive a major overhaul, thanks to the “School Pride” show, said spokesman Jason Brown. The show will air sometime this fall during the show’s regular time slot of 8 p.m. Friday nights, Brown said.
