Symposiums to focus on marketing, doing business in 21st centuryThe Sterling Heights Regional Chamber presents two symposiums: “Marketing in the 21st Century 2.0” is 7:30 a.m.-3 p.m. Oct. 6 and “Doing Business in the 21st Century” is 7:30 a.m.-3 p.m. Oct. 19. The symposiums will be held at Macomb Intermediate School District, 44001 Garfield Road, Clinton Township. The Oct. 6 symposium highlights social network marketing, website optimization and newspaper advertising. The social media segment will be presented by Kevin Outland, president of Pure Energy Advertising. Don Holland, president of Five Sparrows LLC, will share how to get the most from your business website. Changes in newspaper advertising will be presented by Roger Hages, advertising director of The Macomb Daily and The Daily Tribune newspapers.
The Oct. 19 symposium covers topics such as the effect and tax ramifications of the new health care bill on business, the need for a business plan, the best ways to interview new employees and the new ways to sell presented by Gerry Weinberg, president of Gerry Weinberg and Associates.

Prima Civitas presents employer internship training sessions
The Prima Civitas Foundation is presenting two sessions on employer internship programs 8:30-10 a.m. or 3:30-5 p.m. Sept. 28 at the University of Michigan - Flint, Harding Mott University Center, Happenings Room, 303 E. Kearsley Street, Flint.
The Genesee Regional Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring the sessions. This employer internship training session is one of many occurring around the state. Topics covered include information on setting goals, recruiting, and managing interns. The sessions are free and available to any Michigan employer seeking to begin or enhance their organization’s internship program. Attendees can choose a morning or afternoon session.
