Vo2 Ventures LLC, a newly formed venture capital firm, will be hosting research proposal preparation training on Thursday, Sept. 23, and Friday, Sept. 24, which will be led by Ann Arbor-based Biotechnology Business Consultants, a business that develops life science companies.
The Small Business Innovation Research/Small Business Technology Transfer Research proposal preparation training will take place at Vo2’s new 14,000-square-foot facility at 30375 Northwestern Hwy., Farmington Hills. Vo2 Ventures LLC is a spin-off from Davis and Davis CPAs.

AGIS, a full-service insurance agency in Birmingham, will host a free seminar titled “Health Care Reform: Impact on Employers,” Tuesday, Sept. 21, at the Troy Community Center, located at 3179 Livernois Road, Troy. Breakfast and registration are from 8:30-9 a.m., with the event directly following from 9-11:30 a.m. These informational seminars will examine a wide range of issues relating to the health care reform bill and its impact on employers who sponsor group health plans.

Bec & Sam’s children’s couture boutique moves
Bec & Sam’s, a children’s clothing, bedding and accessory boutique, is moving from its Bloomfield Hills location to a new space in downtown Birmingham at 142 W. Maple. The new location opened

Owner Julie Grippo is holding a Bat Mitzvah trunk dress show at the new location Sept. 23-26 featuring nationally recognized designers such as Tony Bowls, Sweetie Pie and Joan Calabrese, and dresses from Blush and other major dress labels. Grippo says they ensure originality by not selling the same design to another girl from the same synagogue.
The store offers fine playwear for girls up to size 16 and boys up to size 7 and specializes in special occasion clothing, including a large selection of christening gowns, rompers and accessories, flower girl dresses, Communion dresses and Bat Mitzvah outfits.
Children’s bedding line brands include Bella Notte, Elizabeth Allen Etalier, Sterline Annabella, House Inc., My Blankee, and Little Giraffe Bedding.

Panera Bread collects for breakfast drive
Panera Bread has partnered with the United Way for Southeastern Michigan’s Emergency Food and Shelter Program for “Feed Families in Knead,” a nonperishable breakfast food drive Wednesday, Sept. 22-Saturday, Sept. 25. All 43 metro Detroit Panera Bread locations will collect breakfast items, including cereal, oatmeal and granola. Donations will benefit more than 30 emergency food providers located throughout the region. Each person to drop off an item will receive a coupon for a free Panera Bread bagel on their next visit.
