Experts teach how to procure business
The 2010 Bid & Brunch Matchmaking Event is 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 20, at the Southfield Pavillion, 26000 Evergreen Road.
A panel of three business owners will explain how they prepared themselves for government, corporate and export business.
Also, a panel of three buyers will discuss what they look for in small business vendors.
The purpose of the event is to introduce business owners to procurement specialists on corporate, government, municipal and institutional levels in an effort to build and diversify their businesses.
The target audience is minority- and women-owned small businesses, however, the event is open to all.

Forum teaches social media responsibility
The Troy Chamber presents the forum, “You Posted What? Legal Limits of Social Media in the Workplace,” noon to 1 p.m. Friday, Oct. 22, at the Troy Chamber office, 4555 Investment Drive., suite 300.
Andrey Tomkiw, principal with the Royal Oak law firm of Tomkiw Law Group, PLC, will host an interactive discussion on the legal implications employers face with the increasingly popular use of social media in the workplace.
Topics include what limits employers need to set for employees and what privacy rights employees should expect.
Choose Troy Friday Forums are free, informal sessions, where Troy Chamber members will pick topics and answer questions.
Attendees may bring questions and their lunch.
