Inn Season Cafe chef presents ‘Food is Medicine’
George Vutetakis, founding chef of the Inn Season Cafe in Royal Oak, will discuss “Food is Medicine” from 7-9 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 8, at the Wellness Training Institute, 39242 Dequindre, Ste. 104 in Sterling Heights. The cost to attend is $20 and includes the talk, cooking demonstration and tasting. Vutetakis will demonstrate how to prepare quinoa corn arepas with cranberry chocolate salsa and pepita cilantro pesto garnish. Seating is limited. For reservations, call 586-795-3600.

Sargent Appliance names Karen Newman as spokeswoman
The Skolas family of Sargent Appliance announced Karen Newman as its official spokesperson.
Newman, a Rochester native is a professional singer, well-known for her singing of the National Anthem before Red Wings’ home games. She also has produced several CDs and is in her 10th year of producing and performing in her popular, family friendly holiday show at various venues throughout the Detroit metro area.
