Baker College’s CISCO Healthcare IT Program granted approval
The accelerated CISCO Healthcare Information Technology certificate program at Baker College of Auburn Hills has been granted approval by the U.S. Department of Education. Students enrolled in the program are eligible for financial aid through the U.S. Department of Education.
“We’ve doubled the number of weekly classes,” said Ken Piggott, Baker College of Auburn Hills dean of technology, “therefore students who enroll for winter 2011 quarter will be able to complete their technical requirements and earn the required 60 credit hours by the end of August 2011.”
The CISCO Healthcare Information Technology program is a partnership between Baker’s Auburn Hills campus and the CISCO Network Academy. CISCO has created the curriculum, implemented Web resources, and is developing internship/job placement opportunities specific to the healthcare IT industry.

Women in Defense hosts free breakfast gathering
The Women in Defense Michigan chapter, a networking and development organization for those who contribute to national defense and security professions, is hosting a free breakfast gathering 8:30 to 10 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 14 at the Best Western Sterling Inn, 34911 Van Dyke Ave., Sterling Heights. The meeting will focus on the success the chapter achieved in 2010 and the organization’s plans for the upcoming year. Membership details and how to become involved will also be shared. Ram’s Horn hosts Toys for Tots
The Ram’s Horn restaurant at 48865 Hayes Road, Shelby Township is hosting a Toys for Tots fundraiser Wednesday, Dec. 15. Santa will be there to pose for photos, 6-8 p.m. The Marines will be helping to decorate cookies and there will be raffles and other activities. All proceeds benefit Toys for Tots. Toys can be dropped off at the restaurant through Dec. 18. Call 586-566-5370.

Basso Design Group, an interactive marketing agency, is a 2010 Silver W3 winner for its agency work (www.bassodesigngroup.com). The group was awarded based on its interactive campaigns as well as highly customized websites.
