Ambassador duty-free store donates to Forgotten Harvest
The Ambassador Bridge Co. has partnered with Forgotten Harvest to donate a portion of every transaction made at its Ammex Global Marketplace duty-free store, located at the bridge’s U.S. plaza, through Dec. 31. Forgotten Harvest delivers food free of charge to 158 agencies in the tri-county area six days a week. It collects surplus prepared and nonperishable food from 455 sources, including grocery stores, fruit and vegetable markets, restaurants, caterers, dairies, farmers, wholesale food distributors and other health department-approved sources.

‘Driving Out Hunger’ food drive will start Friday
The Tri County Flea Market-East, 14401 Frazho, Warren, is holding a “Driving Out Hunger” event Friday, Dec. 10, through Sunday, Dec. 12. Donations of nonperishable goods are being accepted to help feed the hungry during the holidays. Those who bring in five goods or more will receive a free hot dog. U-M robot squad wins challenge
The University of Michigan’s “Team Michigan” robot squad that worked together in a complicated mapping exercise won the inaugural Multi-Autonomous Ground-robotic International Challenge (MAGIC 2010) in Australia.
The challenge is a joint initiative of the U.S. Army Research, Development and Engineering Command’s Tank
Automotive Research Development and Engineering Center in Warren and Australia’s Defense Science and Technology Organization. It was designed to further the development of robot teams that can operate autonomously in dangerous situations, keeping soldiers out of harm’s way.
