O2 Investment acquires chemical manufacturerO2 Investment Partners of Bloomfield Hills, a private equity firm, has acquired all outstanding shares of Silbond Corporation, a specialty chemical manufacturing business based in Weston, near the Ohio border. Jay Hansen, president of O2, announced the deal and added that the transaction included partnering with Silbond’s management team.
Founded in 1994, Silbond employs 50 people and is a leading supplier of “tetra ethyl ortho silicate,” a specialty chemical used in industries such as semiconductors and electronics, protective coatings, investment casting, and chemical processing.
In addition to Silbond, other portfolio companies owned by O2 Investment principals include: Rhe-Tech, Inc., a Michigan based plastics compounding and coloring business and New Horizons Northeast, a New York based computer and software training and education provider to consumers and businesses. Ross Medical holds book driveRoss Medical Education Center campuses throughout Michigan held a book drive to benefit hospitalized kids recently. The Madison Heights campus, 29429 John R. Road, led the drive with 80 books for the Children’s Hospital of Michigan and 40 books came from the New Baltimore campus, 51133 Birch Street. The 10 campuses collected 360 books that benefited six different hospitals.

Cityside Management donates to hunger reliefCityside Management in Sterling Heights is a new asset management company for Housing and Urban Development. Their employees decided to forgo the holiday party this year and donate the money to a local food bank to stop hunger. The donation they made will provide meals for 1,500 people, as opposed to a lavish party for 16.

Chef Mark Dixon, CEC, named state Chef of Year
The Michigan Chefs de Cuisine, the state’s top culinary organization that includes executive chefs, sous chefs, pastry chefs and culinary workers, has named Mark Dixon, CEC, executive chef at Orchard Lake Country Club, as its Chef of the Year.
In addition to being awarded the prestigious Chef of the Year trophy, a special dinner will be held in his honor by the Michigan Chefs de Cuisine in 2011.
Dixon, who lives in Novi, has been executive chef at Orchard Lake Country Club since 2008, after 17 years at Dearborn Country Club. He earned his certified executive chef (CEC) degree from Oakland Community College and has taught culinary arts at the school since 1991.
