Taste of Auburn Hills is tonight

The Auburn Hills Chamber of Commerce hosts Taste of Auburn Hills, 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 6 at the Walter P. Chrysler Museum. Besides a vast array of local eateries on tap, this year’s Taste will feature a chef action station by Hilton Suites Great American Bar & Grill; live musical entertainment by the Oakland University Jazz Band; and Chrysler’s unique collection of antique, custom and concept vehicles. New this year, a percentage of the event’s proceeds will support the Blessings in a Backpack program through the Avondale School District. The nonprofit organization helps supplement the nutritional needs of elementary school children who have little or no access to food on the weekends. Food establishments serving up their specialties include: Alfoccino Restaurant, Bar Louie, bd’s Mongolian Barbeque, Costco Wholesale, Culver’s, Fieldstone Golf Club, King’s Court Castle, Lelli’s of Auburn Hills, Longhorn Steakhouse, Max & Erma’s, Mr. Pita, Olga's Kitchen, O’Malley’s Tavern, Palace Grille, Palm Palace, Panera Bread, Post Bar, Sam’s Club, Santa Fe Mexican Restaurant, and Toby Keith’s I Love This Bar & Grill. A cash bar featuring select Detroit Beer Company and Fieldstone Winery offerings will also be available. Tickets are $25 each for adults and $10 for children ages 5-12. Electronics disposition drive in Royal OakThe Royal Oak School District is teaming up with 5R Processors, Ltd. to help Royal Oak and the surrounding communities properly dispose of their household electronics equipment at no cost. They will be set up from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 8 in the Royal Oak High School parking lot, 1500 Lexington Blvd. The event will raise money for the school district. 5R Processors is donating $2 to the school district for every car that recycles an electronic. The event is open to the public and small businesses and 5R is accepting residential equipment only. 5R will be accepting most consumer electronics, home office equipment, large household appliances and more.
