DTE Energy names new chief executive

DTE Energy names new chief executive to take over Oct. 1
DTE Energy President and Chief Operating Officer Gerard M. Anderson will become president and take over as chief executive officer Oct. 1.
The 52-year-old Anderson is taking over from Anthony F. Earley Jr., DTE’s current CEO, who will remain with the company as executive chairman of the board with particular responsibility for relationships with external constituents, DTE said.
Anderson, who has served as DTE Energy president and chief operating officer since 2005, has assumed increasing responsibility for key business functions over the last few years and was elected to the board last year, Earley said.
Anderson joined DTE in 1993 as vice president of non-utility businesses. He became executive vice president of DTE Energy in 1997, directing the company’s power generation, power marketing, fuel supply and marketing activities.
Earley has been CEO and chairman of the board since 1998.

Walsh seeks hosts for foreign business owners
Walsh College is seeking business owners from southern Oakland County or Macomb County to host family business owners visiting from the Middle East on Oct. 8. The local business owners will be asked to provide tours of their companies and take the visitors to lunch.
The Middle Eastern business owners are visiting the U.S. through Oct. 23 as part of their month-long trip to study business systems and dynamics in family-owned enterprises.
Local businesses owners should sign up by Oct. 1 by contacting Jan Hubbard, director of the Walsh Institute Leadership Center at jhubbard@walshcollege.edu or 248-823-1392.
“We believe the exchange of information will be illuminating for our local family businesses, as well as for our guests,” said Hubbard.
Delegates and hosts will meet at the Walsh Troy campus at 10 a.m. Following an introductory session, hosts will be asked to take the visitors to lunch and back to their offices before returning them to their hotel by 4 p.m. The delegates return to Walsh at 6 p.m. to participate in the Business 360 workshop on Problem Solving.
While spending most of their time in Toledo, the representatives will also visit Lansing, Chicago and Columbus, Ohio.
The delegation represents industries such as engineering consulting, retail, pharmaceutical technology, and computer sciences, from the countries of Jordan, Lebanon, and UAE.
