The 140 Characters Conference, which explores the effects of the emerging real-time Internet on business, is coming to The Fillmore Detroit on Wednesday, Oct. 20, and its founder, Jeff Pulver, is offering at least 250 student tickets for free. Graduate and undergraduate students with a valid university or college e-mail address are invited to register for the conference at http://detroit2010.140conf.com/students. Similar conferences have been held in cities around the world, including Los Angeles, Boston, Tel Aviv, London and New York City. Nonstudent tickets are available for $140. Elite Ink Tattoo holds Pink Ink fundraiser

Elite Ink Tattoo Studio at 25543 Van Dyke in Center Line is sponsoring the second annual Pink Ink fundraiser, taking place on Sept. 23 at Elite Ink Tattoo Studio, 25543 Van Dyke Avenue, Center Line.
Customers can get a pink ribbon tattoo for a donation to The Pink Fund. The Pink Fund is an organization dedicated to helping those who are in active treatment or recovering from breast cancer.
There will be baskets raffled off as well and Powerhouse Gym, which is helping to sponsor the event this year, will give a 90-day membership to participants to any of the participating gyms in Michigan.
