Bizdom U is a program that is focused on empowering entrepreneurs to start-up and lead successful Detroit-based businesses. The program was founded in January 2007 by Dan Gilbert, founder and chairman of Quicken Loans Inc. and majority owner of the NBA’s Cleveland Cavaliers.
Macprofessionals, located in Novi, donated the new Macbooks to supply entrepreneurs and program leaders with state-of-the-art technology with the goal of enhancing local community business development.
This year, the program includes 15 local entrepreneurs who will work together through the intensive and challenging boot camp that includes a series of training and feedback sessions aimed at developing a business plan for a real Detroit-based business.
Upon completion of the program, participants may present a plan to the Bizdom U fund. If their plan is accepted, they can receive seed money up to $100,000. Bizdom U maintains a share of ownership in the new business, channeling their share of the proceeds back into the program and generating more opportunity for other entrepreneurs and jobs.
