Michigan Made Art Fair Fever coming Saturday

Michigan Made Market shares Art Fair Fever on Saturday
More than 60 local artists and authors are coming together to create a fun, art fairlike shopping experience. Yellow Door Art Market is hosting an Art Fair Fever open house 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, March 5. There will be a large variety of garden goods, photography, clothing and handbags, creative jewelry, pottery and sweet smelling soaps, candles and more. Many of the artists will be present to talk about their crafts, including Dena Gillespie of Clawson who creates cool wire sculptures.
In addition, Michigan authors will be signing copies of their books, including writer and photographer Pete Wurdock, who will be signing copies of his book, “Places I Hide,” 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Margaret Mason will also be debuting her latest release, “These Hands,” which is about African-Americans who worked at the Detroit Wonder Bread factory in the 1950s. Mason will be present from 1 to 3 p.m. Other festivities include free artist-made goodies with purchases greater than $30, 15 percent off all items and Michigan-made sips and snacks served throughout the day.

A ‘Bigger Taste’ of Leadership Oakland coming March 10
The annual Taste of Leadership Oakland, is being billed this year as a “Bigger Taste,” with added attractions and displays that highlight some of the topics covered in the Leadership Oakland program. “Taste” will take place from 4:30 to 7 p.m. Thursday, March 10, at the Townsend Hotel, One Townsend Drive, Birmingham. Since networking has become a powerful part of this event, additional time and activities to facilitate this are also part of the plan, including the presence of the Oakland County Commissioners to meet and greet their constituency. Detroit Public Television announces new chairwoman
Detroit Public Television (DPTV) announced the election of Melonie Colaianne as new Board of Trustees chairwoman. Colaianne is president and director of corporate affairs of MASCO Corp. Foundation. Also, DPTV announced at the public station’s annual board meeting the addition of three new board members: Tim Nicholson of PVS Chemicals, Hannan Lis of The WW Group and Arthur Horwitz of Renaissance Media/The Detroit Jewish News.
